It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr. Nestor Ibarra M. Gonzalez (NIM) on November 29, 2024. Dr. NIM's life was an extraordinary journey filled with remarkable accomplishments, a deep commitment to faith, and an unwavering dedication to service. His mission was clear: to uplift those around him and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

DR. NIM, aka Father Nim, Tatay Nim, was the eldest of four children born to the world-renowned writer/author NVM Gonzalez & Narita Gonzalez that instilled in him the values of faith, compassion, service, and a deep commitment to education. His parents, both educators, believed in the transformative power of knowledge, faith, and community support. They always found ways to help those in need, whether through teaching local children or organizing food drives for struggling families. This upbringing planted the seeds of empathy and responsibility in Dr. NIM, shaping his worldview and guiding him toward a life dedicated to service.
Growing up in such an environment, he learned early on that true wealth lies not in material possessions but in the well-being of others. His parents' dedication to education and community service, combined with the resilience of his ancestors, created a strong foundation for his mission. Dr. NIM embodied these values throughout his journey, becoming a beacon of hope for countless individuals in impoverished communities. His legacy serves as a powerful reminder of how our backgrounds can inspire us to make a difference, urging us all to reflect on our own roots and the potential we have to uplift those around us.
Throughout his life, Dr. NIM touched the hearts of many, leaving an unforgettable mark on the communities he served, students, friends, classmates, colleagues, families. His generosity knew no bounds, and his compassion was evident in every interaction. Whether he was actively involved in community projects, mentoring young minds, or sharing a moment of kindness with a stranger, Dr 2 NIM’s influence was far-reaching and transformative. His ability to connect with people from all walks of life made him a beloved figure in the community.

Dr Nim’s legacy of faith and service will continue to resonate in the lives he impacted. He inspired countless individuals to strive for their best selves, fostering a spirit of unity and collaboration wherever he went. His dedication inspired others to give back and serve their communities with the same passion he exhibited throughout his life.
As we honor his memory, we reflect not only on his remarkable achievements— such as his professional milestones, contributions to education, and efforts to promote social justice—but also on the warmth, laughter, and joy he brought to our lives. Dr. NIM had a unique ability to make others feel valued, heard, and understood. Though he will be dearly missed, his spirit will forever remain alive in our hearts, reminding us to carry forward his legacy of love, kindness, and service to others. We will cherish the memories we shared with him and continue to celebrate the impact he made in our lives and the community.



Davao High School before going to Rome for theology. After ordination, he worked as a communication specialist for the Jesuits in Asia, earned his masters at the UP Institute of Mass Communicationand Phd from the Annenberg School of Communication in the University of Southern California . Aside from his communication ministry, he did social work and development while teaching and chairing the department of communication of the Ateneo de Manila University. He left the Jesuits and continued his communication work in California where he married Christine who was in the healing ministry. He joined Christine's work before going back to the Philippines and combined the work of communication, spirituality, and healing.
